Definition
A ‘tort’ is a ‘wrong’ in civil law (as opposed to criminal law). Someone who has been wronged should be compensated. It is separate from contract law’, however. It includes intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, financial losses, injuries, and invasion of privacy.
