Crowd Employment - (adjective + noun)

Definition

Also known as ‘crowd sourcing’ and ‘crowd work’. In 2015, EurWork defines it as employment that ‘uses an online platform to enable organisations or individuals to access an indefinite and unknown group of other organisations or individuals to solve specific services or products in exchange for payment. It aims to organise the outsourcing of tasks to a large pool of online workers rather than to a single employee.

Example of Use: Crowd work is done through various online platforms. Such work, therefore, requires no physical contact at any point between the person or organisation ordering the work and the worker.
